Matt Wiese

OH&S Manager

Matt started his career in scaffolding in 2008. He joined the industry because his brother was a scaffolder in residential scaffolding and told him to come and get a job working with him. In this time Matt got his truck and forklift license as a way of ensuring he always had a job. However, after working in transport for a year, Matt returned to commercial scaffolding in 2010.

Matt has always had an interest in safety and the importance of it on site, he prides himself on always working with a safety mindset. Matt completed his HSR training in 2019. During his time in the scaffolding industry, he has seen safety improve and more structure being implemented to help manage the safety of the team on site.

Matt has worked on many projects across Melbourne including Westgate Bridge widening, Caufield Village, Melbourne Water western sewer upgrade, Melbourne Park tennis precinct upgrade, Metro tunnel (Latrobe St access shaft) and Westgate tunnel (Footscray Rd). Matt has gained extensive rail experience working on a number of level crossing removals as well as Williams Landing train station and the Regional rail link. He worked on the Melbourne Airport Terminal 2 upgrade and the extensive Chisholm Prison project.

Matt believes consistency and stability within a team are important elements to success. As OH&S Manager, Matt’s previous operational experience helps him work collaboratively with the team in finding the balance between client requirements, deadlines, and safety needs. At Stilcon Industrial Services, he has developed an extensive Safety Induction for all team members.

Away from work Matt is the team trainer and first aid officer for his son’s under 10 yr old football team.
